The AAP MP’s meeting with the President occurs in the midst of the party’s vehement criticism of the in-power BJP over the Delhi excise policy matter.

Senior party figures, including Chadha, have said that the BJP is using central agencies improperly to target AAP leaders. According to the party, which has been working hard to increase its presence across the country, the BJP is afraid of the AAP’s potential threat in the general elections of 2024 and is seeking to discredit its leaders.

Raghav Chadha’s journey with AAP started as an MLA in Delhi’s legislative assembly.  He won the Rajinder Nagar constituency at the age of 26 and was appointed the party’s national treasurer and vice chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board.
