Aadhaar Update Deadline Extended: Free changes until September 14

Good news for Aadhaar cardholders! The government has pushed back the deadline to update Aadhaar details without any charges. Originally set for June 14, 2024, you now have until September 14, 2024, to make changes to your information at no cost.

Aadhaar, the 12-digit unique ID, is a key part of many services that need OTP authentication. It helps stop fake identities and makes sure each person has just one number linked to their biometrics. This is why keeping your details current is so important.

If your Aadhaar is over a decade old and hasn’t been updated, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) suggests submitting fresh identity and address proofs. This will help confirm your information and improve service quality.

You can update your Aadhaar online through the UIDAI website. Just log in with your Aadhaar number and OTP, check your details, and make changes if needed. Remember, you’ll need to upload supporting documents in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format (under 2 MB).

Keep in mind that some updates, like biometrics, can’t be done online. Also, you can only change your birth date and gender once each.

If you prefer, you can also update offline. Download and fill out the Aadhaar enrolment form, then take it with your documents to an Aadhaar centre. They’ll collect your biometrics and give you a slip to track your request.

Don’t wait until the last minute! Make sure your Aadhaar is up-to-date before September to avoid any hiccups with services that need Aadhaar verification. Take advantage of this extended deadline and keep your digital identity in check.
