18 COVID-19 supplies exempted from import duties till September-end

CBIC said in a notification that the extension of the duty relief was being made in the public interest. The relief initially granted in April till the end of July was already extended once.

On Monday central board of Taxes and customs commissioned the relief on 18 products plotted for import in regards to covid 19. Which included products such as medical oxygen, related gear, and covid vaccines. Which have been postponed till the end of September.

11 items on the program enlisted are related to medical oxygen such as oxygen production, storage, transportation or its administration. Ventilators, nasal cannula and helmets are used with non-invasive ventilation. These specified products are to be reeled from tax relief. According to the reports presently India has 376,000 active coronavirus cases and a death toll of 438,000.

According to the estimates currently, India is reporting 38,685 new cases every day while there is a boost of 10% in the daily average as per reports associated on 9 May.
