Sensex surges 344.63 pts

Snapping a losing streak of the last four sessions, the BSE Sensex on Friday rallied 344.63 pts on the strength of Auto, Consumer Durable, Telecom and FMCG stocks amid weak Asian Market.

Mumbai, July 15: Snapping a losing streak of the last four sessions, the BSE Sensex on Friday rallied 344.63 pts at 53,760.78 on the strength of Auto, Consumer Durable, Telecom and FMCG stocks amid weak Asian Market.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 110.55 pts at 16,049.20.
The sensex opened higher by 221 pts at 53,637.88. It was rallied by 395 pts, days high, before closing at 53,760.78, up by 344.63 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 53,811.37 and 53,361.62 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,066.95 and 15,927.30 respectively.
The sectoral indices like Auto, Consumer Durable, Capital Goods and Telecom pushed the market up today.

In scrips, Hind Unilever was a star gainer up by 2.86 pc to Rs 2568.60 followed by
Titan by 2.66 pc to Rs 2185.10, Maruti Suzuki by 2.66 pc to Rs 8790, L& T by 2.36 pc to Rs 1684.90 and HDFC by 2.27 pc to Rs 2218.

The losers were Tata Steel by 2.59 pc to Rs 884.60, Powergrid by 2.54 pc to Rs 209.40, HCL Technology by 2.26 pc to Rs 883.30 and Wipro by 1.97 pc to Rs 393.70.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.84 pc and Small Cap by 0.52 pc.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

In Asian Market, Japan gained 0.54 pc and Taiwan by 0.78 pc.

While, Australia fell by 0.74 pc followed by China by 1.64 pc and Hong Kong by 2.19 pc.
