Sensex, Nifty to open flat with positive bias today

Indian stock markets today are expected to witness a flat opening with a positive bias as signalled by the SGX Nifty. US markets overnight ended mixed, with the Nasdaq and S&P 500 ending in the red. The Dow Jones ended higher with a gain of 98 points.

The Sensex on Tuesday ended the session higher by 311 points at 60,157, while the Nifty-50 ended higher by 98 points at 17,722. Nifty Bank surged higher by 531 points at 41,366. “ The overall trend remains in a bullish mode and any dip in the index will be an opportunity to enter fresh long. The support for the Nifty is placed at around 17,500–17,450 levels and resistance is capped at 17,900 levels. In case the Nifty breaches below 17,450 levels, then 17,300 will be the next support zone,” said Rohan Patil of SAMCO Securities.
Foreign Institutional Investors continued their buying spree for the eighth straight session. FIIs on Tuesday bought shares worth Rs 342 crore in the cash market, provisional data from exchanges showed. Flows from DIIs however turned negative as they sold shares worth Rs 264 crore, provisional data from exchanges showed.
Top stocks to watch today are BHEL, Titagarh Wagons, Delta Corp, Sula, Paras Defence, besides others.
