Sensex, Nifty likely to sustain gains, SGX Nifty indicates a positive start

Indian stock markets today are expected to witness a strong opening as signalled by the SGX Nifty

Indian stock markets today are expected to witness a flat opening with a positive bias as signalled by the SGX Nifty. At 6:40 AM, the SGX Nifty was up 35 points. On Friday, Dow Jones & S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended the session with strong gains of over a percent each. 

The Sensex on Friday ended higher by 1,031 points at 58,991, while the Nifty gained 279 points to close at 17,359. The Nifty Bank too ended higher by 698 points at 40,608. “ The bullish candle on Friday’s session showed a greater enthusiasm to close above its 9 & 21 EMA which is placed at 17,116 & 17,222 levels,” Rohan Patil of SAMCO Securities.
Foreign Institutional Investors continued their buying streak for the third straight session on Friday. FIIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs 357 crore in the cash markets, provisional data from exchanges showed. Flows from DIIs remained highly positive on Friday as they bought shares worth Rs 2,479 crore, provisional data from exchanges showed.
Stocks to watch today are Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Shriram Properties, RVNL, besides others.
