Market Highlights: Sensex end with 2% hike, Nifty reaches close to 10k; two-day streak for Bajaj Twins

On Tuesday, the Indian indices ended on a new high with Nifty ending at 9,979.1. This was the fifth consecutive session where the market ended on a day’s high level. At close, Sensex was up by 522 points or 2 percent at 33,825.5. Whereas Nifty closed at 9,979, up 2 percent.

In addition, 1712 shares have advanced, 708 shares declined, and 150 shares are unchanged in today’s trading session. Moreover, this was the first time in the year that indices have rallied for five days in a row. Further, Bajaj twins became the top gainers again for the second day. Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance shares were in the lead by 9 percent in the closing bell.

  1.  Today turned out to be the first time in 2020 that the market grew for five straight days.
  2. The market ended at a high with Nifty and Sensex reaching close to 10,000 and 34,000, respectively.
  3. Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance achieved the title of top gainers for the second consecutive day.
  4. Among the Nifty gainers were Tata Motors, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Zee Entertainment, IndusInd Bank, and GAIL.
  5. Coal India, Maruti Suzuki, ITC, Dr. Reddys Labs, and BPCL were part of the Nifty losers.
  6. Kotak Mahindra shares surge by 7.5 percent at 1,342.9 after Uday Kotak announced the sale of shares through a block deal.
  7. All sectoral indices ended on the green side. However, only Nifty FMCG ended low by 0.72 percent.
  8. Nifty Auto and Nifty IT gained 1 percent ending at 6,471.3 and 14,422.4, individually.
  9. BSE midcap and smallcap increased by 2 percent and ended on a green note.
  10. Moreover, the rupee ended strong by 19 paise at 75.36 against the US dollar. Thus, this was higher than the close on Monday at 75.55 per dollar.
