Market Closing: Sensex, Nifty crash at close, Bank down by 400 points

The stock markets at closing on Thursday crashed after opening green earlier dragged down by Banking and Financial stocks in the trading session.

At closing, Sensex was down by 335 points or 0.88% at 37736, Nifty at 11102 down by 100 points or 0.90%. Nifty Bank down over 429 points managing to hold 21646 at close.

The markets at opening showed positive figures with all indices trading green later slipping red as bank stocks fall down drastically, HDFC slips as the bank posted Q1 Profit at Rs 3051 Crore.

All sectoral indices in the red territory after mid session, IT and Pharma trade green.

Highlights as on Market Closing:

  • Indices slip red dragged by Banks and Auto stocks.
  • IT and Pharma stocks outperform maintaining the green figures.
  • Dr Reddy’s, Wipro, Sun Pharma and Infosys among the top gainers.
  • BPCL, IndusInd Bank, IOC among top losers of Nifty.
  • Dr Reddy’s lab gained nearly 5% to close at 4516.50.
  • BPCL dipped nearly 8% to close at 419.10.
  • About 535 shares advanced and 1079 have declined in Nifty.
