Market closing highlights: Indices regained to end on a positive note; M&M becomes the Nifty gainer


On Friday, the Indian indices opened on a negative note but managed to close positive with Nifty trading at 9,972.9. At close, Sensex was trading at 33,780.8, up by 242.5 points or 0.72 percent. Whereas Nifty was traded higher by 70.9 points or 0.72 percent.

Among the sectoral indices, all ended green except Nifty IT, Media, and PSE. Around 1224 shares have advanced, 1226 declined, and 150 remain unchanged. In today’s trading session Mahindra & Mahindra turned out to be the top gainer.

Here are the key highpoints of the trading session ended on June 12, 2020:

  1. The market indices ended positively despite a negative beginning. Also, the indices earned the biggest intraday gain in more than two months, as reported by CNBC TV18.
  2. M&M, Bharti Infratel, Shree Cements, Bajaj Finance, and Hero Motocorp became the top Nifty gainers in the trading session.
  3. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment, ONGC, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid Corp, and Wipro joined the Nifty losers list.
  4. The shares of M&M surged by 7 percent ending at 508.45.
  5. Nifty Bank ended green with 129.4 points or 0.6 percent at 20,654.
  6. The stocks of Kotak Mahindra Bank ended short by 1 percent after RBI suggests restricting the bank’s CEO tenure.
  7. BSE midcap and smallcap concluded positive, up by 0.9 and 0.13 percent, respectively.
  8. Nifty IT faced the downside ending low by 216 points at 14,402. The IT sector is under pressure on the Wall Street Journal report over US president considering suspension of H1-B visas, reported CNBC TV18.
  9. The shares of Indigo also declined by 0.2 percent in the trading session.
  10. Reliance, Titan Company, Eicher Motors, Maruti Suzuki also joined the gainers’ list in today’s market session.
