The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50, the key indices of the Indian stock market, concluded the session with gains of 0.5% each. The Nifty 50 closed at 18,398.85, just below the 18,400 level and 60 points lower than its highest point during the day. Meanwhile, the Sensex closed 317 points higher at 62,346.
The broader markets also performed well, with the Nifty Smallcap 50 rising by 0.9% and the Nifty Midcap 50 gaining 1%. The Nifty 100, Nifty 200, and Nifty 500 indices saw gains ranging from 0.42% to 0.47%. Across sectors, all indices closed in positive territory.
The Nifty Realty sector registered significant gains of 4.32%, while Nifty FMCG, Nifty Media, and Nifty PSU Bank added up to 2% intraday. The Bank Nifty settled at 44,072.10, reaching an intraday high of 44,151.7, just short of its all-time high.
