Union Budget 2021: FM announces new educational institutions; 15000 standard schools

While announcing Union Budget 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced 100 new Sainik schools to be set up in partnership with NGOs, private schools, and states.

FM Sitharaman also announced, “Over 15,000 standard schools to be qualitatively strengthened under National Education Policy (NEP)”.

For accessible higher education in Ladakh, Finance Minister proposed to set up a central university in Leh, under National Education Policy.

In this period of a viral pandemic, FM announced that 4 more National Institute of Virology will be opened.

FM then announced, “We would be introducing the legislation this year to implement the setting-up of Higher Education Commission of India”.

The year 2020 was a tough year for education sector, as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the schools and colleges to shut down and stuck to online learning methods.
