In December 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This led the US to join the Allies in World War II. Many people died in Japan’s surprise attack on Hawaii, including nurses, soldiers and families living on the island. Pearl Harbor is now a memorial dedicated to honouring the innocent people who died there.
3. Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Washington DC
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, honours the United States’ major role in the Vietnam War. The memorial was built in honour of the American soldiers who died in the war.
4. India Gate, Delhi, India
India Gate is one of India’s most renowned war memorials. The memorial honours Indian soldiers who lost their lives during World War I between 1914 and 1921. India Gate is located on Rajpath Road, about 2 kilometres from Rashtrapati Bhavan. It remains one of Delhi’s favourite tourist places.
