New book Baobab Diaries by Leena Sagar encompasses a fascinating journey of African baobab trees in western India

‘Baobab Diaries: Exploring Baobab Trees of Western India’ is a photo book cum travelogue about the iconic African baobab trees which are also found in India. With a lifespan of more than a thousand years and trunk girths of up to 25 metres, these are truly gigantic and enigmatic trees, also identified as the legendary ‘Kalpavriksha’ in some places.

Fascinated by a chance sighting in late 2018 of one such huge baobab tree in Mumbai, the author Leena Sagar—who is neither a botanist nor a photographer—set off with a camera on an exciting journey of exploring baobab trees across Western India. Enjoy the trail of this living heritage, stunning photos, facts, folklore and more and learn about the benefits of this ‘Tree of Life’ from the book.
