US relaxes travel restrictions for Indian tourists, puts India in ‘low-risk’ category

The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention lifted the travel restrictions and moved India from Level 3 (danger level) to Level 1 (low-risk).

On Monday the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has given a heads up for Indians who have taken Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin to enter the borders of the United States. This directive comes at a time when World Health Organization is clearly indecisive in giving Covaxin an emergency use listing.

The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention lifted the travel restrictions and moved India from Level 3 (danger level) to Level 1 (low-risk).

The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, in the US, stated that it had moved India from ‘High-risk Level 3’ to ‘Low-risk Level 1’ to prevent Americans who have not yet taken the vaccination to travel to India and other countries.

It has relaxed the travel restrictions from countries like Chad, Namibia, Guinea from ‘High-risk’ to ‘Low-risk’ and subsequently, the US state department moved India from Level 3 to Level 2 however, has warned citizens to take all precautionary measures stating that although India has a lower risk of the coronavirus, the department mentioned crime rate was predominant in India.
