Prince Philip dies at 99; PM Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi pays tributes on Twitter

On the demise of Prince Philip, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pays tribute to him on Twitter.


Britain’s Prince Philip, husband of queen Elizabeth died at 99, on Friday, April 9. He was a prominent figure in the British royal family for almost seven decades. The royal family is mourning over his demise and the people around the globe are presenting condolences to the royal family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also lamented the unfortunate demise of the prince. He tweeted, “My thoughts are with the British people and the Royal Family on the passing away of HRH the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He had a distinguished career in the military and was at the forefront of many community service initiatives. May his soul rest in peace.”

While on the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also mourns the death of Prince Philip. He tweeted, “Heartfelt Condolences to her Majesty The Queen, her family and the people of Britain on the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh”.

Well, a statement has been issued by the Buckingham Palace in this regard, “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”

Additionally, the announcement of the death of the Duke of Edinburg, who has died at the age of 99, has been placed on the gates of Buckingham Palace, according to the reports of PA Media.

Keeping in view the ongoing crisis, the public is not allowed to attend the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh. Several public figures around the globe including Boris Johnson and Keir Starmer payed tributes to the Prince.
