As India has been battling with the very widespread and detrimental second wave of Covid-19, there’s a probability that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may avoid his visit to Portugal and France. As of now, the matter has been kept on the back burner.
Though, the ultimate decision is yet to be taken. The visit hasn’t been promulgated by the Ministry of External Affairs, but there’s a piece of information that the advance teams are all geared up with the required drills, as quoted by ANI.
PM Modi was scheduled to visit Portugal to attend the India-EU summit on May 8, 2021. Additionally, his visit to France to hold bilateral talks with the French President Emmanuel Macron was on cards.
Although, Prime Minister Modi has been encumbered with grappling with the second wave of the virus. He has been holding back-to-back meetings with the officials in order to review the situation of the states.
As of now, India has reported above 2,73,000 cases, which is indeed a ponderable figure. Though on Monday, taking one more step ahead towards curbing the pandemic, the government has announced that there’ll be no age restriction on the vaccination. People who are above 18 could now take the vaccine.
While, the national capital, on Monday itself, has declared a complete lockdown for the next six days, i.e., till the 26th of April, 2021.
