1. Insomnia

Although we usually drink coffee for avoiding sleep and working late at night or to drive away from sleeplessness in the morning. However, drinking too much can make you an insomniac by decreasing your sleep time and preventing you from sleeping early. Hence, a small amount of coffee will not harm you but larger quantities can.

2. Digestion Problems

While coffee can help you in speeding up your colon activity by releasing gastrin which is usually produced by our stomach. However, a high amount of caffeine consumption can make you lose control over this process and can even cause diarrhea in some cases. You can go for decaffeinated coffee or can even switch to tea if experiencing this.

Although caffeine is never linked to heart diseases it is believed to increase the blood pressure as it increases the neural activity. Even though, the effect is temporary it can damage your arteries over some time. So, people with high blood pressure must keep a check on their caffeine intake or avoid it.

5. Addiction

One of the side effects of taking caffeine is that it becomes a habit and can make you physically and psychologically dependent on it. Although, caffeine is not related to absolute addiction not having it for too long can cause fatigue, headache and other symptoms. Therefore, too much consumption of coffee can make you dependent on its stimulating effects and can cause side effects which will make you drink even more coffee.
