Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan takes second dose of COVID-19 vaccine; Urges people not to believe on rumours being circulated on ‘WhatsApp university’

Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan took the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine along with his wife Nutan Goel at Delhi Lung and Heart Institute.

On Tuesday, March 30, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan took the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine along with his wife Nutan Goel at Delhi Lung and Heart Institute. After taking the vaccine, Health Minister clarified that the vaccine is absolutely safe and he also urged people not to panic.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said, “After taking the first dose of vaccine, neither of us felt any side effect. Both Indian vaccines are safe and effective. A lot of people have doubts regarding vaccines. I urge them not to believe what is being circulated in WhatsApp university,” as quoted by ANI.

Health Minister further said, “There are only a few rare cases wherein people contracted COVID-19 after taking vaccines. Even if someone tests positive after taking vaccines, it minimalizes the chances of their hospitalization or admission to ICU wards”.

Health Minister Vardhan also shared information on some new Covid vaccines which are under trial now. He said, “Around seven more COVID vaccine candidates are in clinical trials. Some of them are in the advanced phase of the trials. Around two dozen vaccines are in pre-clinical trials,” as quoted by ANI.

 

Vaccination in India got started on 16th January 2021 and till now, more than 55 million people have got the vaccine. From 1st April, 2021, the vaccine will be available to anyone aged 45 years and above, as announced by the government of India.
