SBI donates ₹11 crore to the PM CARES fund; “Fight against the pandemic is not yet over,” says Chairman

The State Bank of India (SBI) on March 1, according to MoneyControl donated an amount of Rs 11 crore to the PM CARES fund in order to contribute to the country’s COVID-19 vaccination drive. Apart from this, in 2020, according to a statement by SBI, about 2,56,000 of its employees together had contributed nearly Rs 107 crore to the fund.

Dinesh Kumar Khara, Chairman of SBI said – “It is at times of adversity that the true form of unity is tested and we all can take pride in the efforts that our nation has put in to fight the pandemic.”

“The fight against the pandemic is not yet over, and as a responsible corporate citizen, we consider it our duty to support the government’s effort to vaccinate all. I request everyone to come forward and help in whatever way they can to ensure a successful vaccination drive,” he added.

SBI had also promised to give away 0.25% of its annual profit obtained during 2019-2020 fiscal to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. Apart from this, the SBI Foundation, in collaboration with the Akshaya Patra Foundation had spent Rs 15 lakh in an effort to provide food to the unprivileged during the lockdown, Rs 25.20 lakhs to provide government hospitals with PPE kits, and Rs 43.92 lakh to provide health equipment.
