PWD Minister Ashok Chavan tests Positive for COVID-19

Senior Indian National Congress leader Ashok Chavan tests positive for COVID-19.  Chavan is the Maharashtra Public Works Department Minister (PWD) and Former Chief Minister.  He is the second such minister in Uddhav Thackeray’s Cabinet to be tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus. Sources have stated that Chavan contracted the virus from his personal driver. After showing regulatory symptoms Chavan was rushed to a hospital. Last Sunday, his report confirmed him being positive for COVID-19. He is going to be transferred from Nanded to Mumbai to receive further treatment. Sources also state that he has already left and is anticipated to reach Mumbai tonight.

Before Chavan, Maharashtra Housing Minister too tested positive for Covid-19 on 19th April, 2020.  Jitendra Awhad was admitted into the Fortis Hospital situated in Mulund. He too was only rushed after showing common symptoms of fever and uneasiness. Awhad has already made full recovery as he was discharged on the 10th May, 2020.

There are more than 47000 confirmed COVID patients all over Maharashtra. Among these, more than 1500 deaths have already been confirmed. The state continues its battle against the Novel Corona Virus.
