Patients to be refunded Rs 24 lakh after being overcharged by hospitals in Bengaluru

The same has been happening in Bengaluru’s private hospitals, despite the government’s order against charging huge fees to the patients. Now, many hospitals in the city have been asked to pay the patients a sum of Rs 24 lakh on account of overcharging them.

After IPS Officer D Roopa took the matter in her hands along with IAS Officer Harsh Gupta, patients got some relief.

The IPS Officer’s first tweet read, “My team, with enforcement, minded Harsh Gupta IAS, has ensured that government rates are followed by hospitals. Painstakingly, nodal officer Ashok Gowda, AEE, has collected details of 22 patients overcharged. Their bank account number is taken. Amount of Rs 24 lakh, as in the pic, will be remitted back to patients.”

“Thanks to the hospital team too who cooperated in following government orders without resisting. We can’t do without the cooperation and support of hospital staff and management,” read her second tweet.
