Negative RT-PCR certificate mandatory for people coming from Kerala to Tamil Nadu

Travelers from Kerala need to carry a negative RT-PCR report to enter Karnataka as well.

According to Asian News International (ANI), Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister has announced the requirement of a negative RT-PCR report for people arriving from Kerala to the state.

On Saturday, Kerala recorded 20,000-plus fresh cases of coronavirus for the fifth consecutive day with a total of 20,624 new infections and 80 fatalities.

The state’s Health Minister Veena George said Kerala was not free from the pandemic’s second wave yet and that about half of Kerala’s population was might be infected with the virus.

As per a study conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Kerala underreports the cases of coronavirus least in India while Uttar Pradesh underreports the most, with only one in 98 cases detected.

Moreover, on July 30 i.e. Friday, 5.06 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in Kerala. Around 17 per cent of its population has been fully vaccinated.

India registered 41,831 new coronavirus cases and 541 deaths in the last 24 hours while the total number of infections increased to 3,16,55,824 across the nation. The current recovery rate of COVID-19 is 97.36 per cent.
