Mumbai Mayor expresses concern on adequate vaccine supply; As India is set to vaccinate all above 18 years of age from May 1

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar ensures that all the vaccine centres in Mumbai are geared up to vaccinate people but the question revolves around the adequate supply of the vaccine.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, while having a word with the media regarding the supply of vaccines, said that they’ll have to keep an eye on the vaccine supply as vaccination for all above 18 is going to commence from the 1st of May, plus second dose has to be given the priority.

Pednekar said, “All centres will be ready but there’s a question that if they’ll get adequate vaccine supply. From 1st May, we’ve to give the vaccine to all above 18 years of age but we’ll have to see the vaccine supply as earlier vaccination will continue and 2nd dose is to be prioritized.”

Adding further, Pednekar said, “We’ve already spoken to the commissioner about making a list of people who can help us in the procurement of vaccines because we have all preparations in place but if we don’t get the supply of vaccines then it will be difficult for us to vaccinate all”, as quoted by ANI.

 

Well, the government, on 19th of April, announced a liberalized and accelerated policy for the Covid-19 vaccination. All above 18 can now get vaccinated from the 1st of May and the registration for the same is going to commence from the 28th of April, 2021. This is in a view to boost up the vaccination in the country; against the sky-touching rates of the Coronavirus.

Although, Maharashtra is one of the states with an odious situation. The total number of cases reported in the last 24 hours is more than 48,700; while the number of total cases in the state stands at 4.34 million.
