Karnataka government imposes Night Curfew in eight cities till 20 April

Night curfew will be imposed between 10 pm – 5 am from 10th to 20th April in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Tumkuru, Udupi and Manipal.

On Thursday, April 8, Karnataka Government issued notification about Corona curfew (night curfew) which will impose in 8 districts from Saturday. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said ‘Corona curfew’ (night curfew) will be imposed between 10pm-5am from 10th to 20th April in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Tumkuru, Udupi and Manipal. Essential services to be exempted,” as quoted by ANI.

The news cames minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meet with chief ministers and representatives of all states and union territories (UTs) and Prime Minister said that the focus should be on micro-containment zones and night curfews to control the spread of the pandemic.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the states and UTs to focus on effective “tracing and tracking” of the infection. He also added that all states should observe a ‘Tika Utsav’ (vaccination festival) from April 11 to April 14 and to encourage people to follow all necessary COVID-19 protocols.

India has reached milestone in administrating Covid-19 Vaccine, as the Indian government managed to administer more than 9 crore doses till now.

On the other side, India recorded over 1.26 lakh new COVID cases in the last 24 hours for first time since the beginning of the pandemic, setting an unprecedented, grim record during the second wave. Also, 685 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh administration has issued a notification regarding night curfew in six of its cities till the 17th of April, 2021.

Punjab government had also announced night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM across the entire state till April 30 and had banned political gatherings too in the state. Delhi government had also announced night curfew with immediate effect till April 30.
