Karnataka CM Yediyurappa calls for emergency meeting tomorrow as 24 patients including COVID-19 patients dies in a Chamarajanagar hospital

24 patients at Chamarajanagar district hospital died due to a shortage of oxygen. Karnataka Health Minister says that an investigation into the matter is going on.

In Karnataka, 24 patients died due to lack of oxygen & other factors at Chamarajanagar district hospital in the last 24 hours.

“24 patients, including Covid-19 patients, died at Chamarajanagar District Hospital due to oxygen shortage and other reasons in last 24 hours. We are waiting for the death audit report,” says the District Incharge Manager Suresh Kumar.

In this regard, Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa has spoken to the Chamarajanagar district collector and called for an emergency meeting which is to be held tomorrow.

Well, the District Incharge Manager Suresh Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the death of the patients, he even ensures that strict legal action will be taken against those who are actually responsible for the occurrence of such an incident at Chamarajanagar district hospital, according to the reports of ANI.

 

Furthermore, IAS officer Shivayogi Kalasada is to conduct an investigation into the Chamarajanagar incident, also he’ll be submitting the report within 3 days.

A statement has come from the side of the Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraja Bommai. Bommai says, “Oxygen demand has increased in the state but we’re trying our level best to fulfill it. We are exploring all possibilities to normalize the situation.”

Additionally, Karnataka Health Minister says, “As per the official statement of doctors, 24 persons died in 24 hours. Of them, only 3 patients died due to a shortage of oxygen. It’s initial information by doctors. An investigation is on”, as quoted by ANI.

 

Although, the state reported 37,733 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Though, the total number of cases stands at 1.6 million.
