On Sunday, April 11, sources of Centre have told the news agency ANI, that to gear up vaccination process, it is expected that India will get 5 more COVID-19 vaccines by the end of October, 2021.
Central government has started to accelerate the production of COVID-19 vaccines, as many states are asking for more doses of vaccination and complaining for the shortage of vaccines.
India is currently manufacturing two vaccines in India, Covishield of Serum institute and Covaxin of Bharat Biotech, and soon India will start the production of 5 more vaccines.
Top government sources told ANI, “India is likely to have five more COVID-19 vaccines by October this year as the Centre is planning to scale up vaccinations amid a rapid surge in cases.”
India is currently manufacturing two Covid-19 vaccines locally: Covishield and Covaxin, and we can expect five more vaccines by quarter of 2021. Five vaccines include Sputnik V vaccine in collaboration with Dr. Reddy’s, Johnson & Johnson vaccine in collaboration with Biological E, Novavax vaccine in collaboration with Serum India , Zydus Cadila’s vaccine, and Bharat Biotech’s Intranasal Vaccine.
Top-level source told ANI about the availability of vaccines in Indian Market for use. Source said, “Sputnik is expected to be available latest by June, if all goes well Johnson and Johnson of Bio E will be available by August, Cadilla Zydus will also be available by August, Novavex of Serum Institute by September and Nasal Vaccine of Bharat Biotech by October.”
Government sources further added, “The Government of India is determined to ensure India remains the pharmacy of the world and Indians have equitable access to the highest quality vaccines in the world. We encourage all Covid-19 vaccine manufacturers to come to India, as the Central Government is ready to provide manufacturing assistance, financial support, and partnership in running and designing clinical trials,” as quoted by ANI.
India has managed to administer 10 crore doses of COVID -19 vaccine and thus becoming fastest country in the world to achieve the milestone of vaccination.
In last 24 hours, India recorded 1.5 lakh new cases and 839 deaths. India has administered a total of 100 million Covid-19 vaccines to 3.6 per cent of its population.
