India overtakes Italy to become the sixth nation to record the most number of Coronavirus cases across the globe. In the last 24 hours, the states registered 9,887 new positive cases. The total number of Coronavirus cases increased to 236,657. Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal witnessed the biggest spikes in their daily COVID-19 count in the last 24 hours.

The Coronavirus infection claimed 294 lives on Friday – the highest number of deaths reported in a day. Maharashtra confirmed 139 fatalities and Delhi recorded 58 deaths in the last 24 hours.

-Maharashtra saw a slight dip in the daily number of positive cases from the previous day.
-2,436 fresh cases were reported on Friday.
-The state’s total number of cases crossed the 80,000 mark.
-The total number of fatalities reported since the outbreak stands at 2,849.
-Mumbai alone reported 54 deaths on Friday – the highest so far.

-Gujarat saw its biggest spike in the daily number of cases as over 500 people tested positive for the Coronavirus infection.
-The total number of positive cases in the state stood at 19,094.

-For the first time, Kerala reported over 100 fresh cases in a single day.
-The total number of cases in the state stands at 1,699.

-West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh also witnessed the highest spike in the daily Coronavirus count.
-Uttar Pradesh reported 496 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 9,733.
-West Bengal confirmed 427 new cases on Friday, increasing the state’s count to 7,303.
