COVID-19: India’s tally inching towards 12 lakh mark, 648 deaths in single day

In the last 24 hours, India recorded 37,724 fresh Coronavirus cases taking the tally to 11,92,915. The death toll rose to 28,732 with 648 fatalities were recorded in one day. The number of active cases of the country stands at 4,11,133 while 7,53,049 patients have recovered from the Coronavirus infection to date.

A record 28,472 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The gap between the active cases and recoveries stands at 3,41,916.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has tested 1,47,24,546 samples till July 21. 3,43,243 samples alone were tested on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry said Delhi’s seroprevalence study found out that about 23 per cent of the people who tested positive were exposed to the Coronavirus in the city. The national capital has several pockets of dense population.

Indian govt has ensured regulatory facilitation and actively consider supplementing resources for expediting the Serum Institute of India’s phase 3 trial of a vaccine for COVID-19 developed by Oxford University.

The Coronavirus infection has affected over 14.6 million and killed over 609,198 people across the globe.
