COVID-19: India’s tally crosses 12 lakh mark, 45,720 cases and 1,129 deaths in single day

As per the Government data, India reported its biggest one day spike with 45,720 Coronavirus cases and 1,129 deaths. India’s tally has crossed the 12 lakh mark and now stands at 12,38,635. The death toll has risen to 29,861. So far, 7,82,607 patients have recovered from the Coronavirus infection.

Over 1.5 crore samples have been tested for Coronavirus. On Wednesday alone, 3,50,823 samples were tested.

– Maharashtra has the highest number of Coronavirus cases in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
– Maharashtra has been facing shortages of drugs like Remdesivir and Tocilizumab.
– The state government has said they are in touch with suppliers to boost the drug supplies.

– In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra reported the highest number of cases (10,576), followed by Andhra Pradesh with 6,045, Tamil Nadu with 5,849 cases, Karnataka with 4,764 cases and Uttar Pradesh with 2,300.
– The highest number of deaths reported by the states on Wednesday stand at Tamil Nadu with 518 deaths, Maharashtra with 280 deaths, Andhra Pradesh with 65 deaths, Karanataka 55 deaths, and West Bengal 39.

On Wednesday, Delhi’s health minister Satyendra Jain said the national capital has decided to conduct serosurveys every month to make better policies for tackling the Coronavirus. The decision was made after the state government analysed the results of its first serosurvey. The results showed that 23 per cent of people have already been exposed to the Coronavirus.

Tamil Nadu, Delhi and some other states have started plasma banks. Plasma donation has been encouraged as an experimental treatment for Coronavirus patients. Research has shown that the antibody-rich plasma of a person who has recovered from the Coronavirus could help an infected person fight the infection.
