COVID-19 case detected again in New Zealand after 102 days

After 102 days of no infection, New Zealand reported four cases of Coronavirus on Tuesday.

After 102 days of being COVID-19 free, New Zealand has detected its first case of the Coronavirus on Tuesday, 11 August. This has prompted the country’s Prime Minister to once again initiate as stay-at-home lockdown order.

PM Jacinda Ardern said four cases had been detected in a single-family in Auckland from an unknown source.

“After 102 days, we have our first cases of COVID-19 outside of managed isolation or quarantine facilities… While we have all worked incredibly hard to prevent this scenario, we have also planned and prepared for it,” she said.
