COVID-19: 2 new cases of Coronavirus confirmed in New Zealand, ends 24-day streak

New Zealand said on Tuesday that it has two new cases of the coronavirus, both of which were related to recent travel from the UK which ended a 24-day streak of no new infections in the country.

The country lifted all social and economic restrictions except border controls last week. It declared it had no new or active cases of the virus and is one of the fist countries to return to pre-pandemic normality.

However, PM Jacinda Ardern warned that new cases may come up in the future as New Zealanders return home, and some others were allowed to do so under special circumstances. New Zealand has 22 deaths from the virus so far.
