Appointments for COVID-19 vaccine booster dose begins from today

The Centre issues guidelines for the COVID-19 vaccine Booster Dose/precautionary dose.

The Centre has issued rules and regulations for the COVID-19 vaccine booster dose today. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there is no need for new registration for the people going for the precautionary/Booster Dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The precautionary dose/Booster dose will be given to the healthcare and frontline workers. People over the age of 60 with co-morbidities are also permitted to take the Booster dose from 10th January.

“Schedules will be published on January 8. The online appointment facility will also start by Friday evening. Vaccination with onsite appointment starts on January 10,” the Union Health Ministry was quoted as saying by news agency ANI

It is mandatory for people to have taken both doses of the Covid vaccine before taking the third dose of the vaccine, that is, the Booster dose. Therefore, the eligible people seeking precautionary doses can directly take an appointment or visit any nearby COVID-19 vaccination center for their precautionary dose.

“Precautionary COVID-19 vaccine dose will be the same vaccine as has been given previously. Those who have received Covaxin will receive Covaxin, those who have received primary two doses of Covishield will receive Covishield,” NITI Aayog member (Health) Dr V K Paul said.
