COVID-19: Over 16,000 fresh cases in a single day, tally inching towards 4.8 lakh

According to the Union Health Ministry, India’s Coronavirus tally has gone up to 4,73,105 and the death toll has risen to 14,894. The country has 1,86,514 active cases at the moment and over 2,71,696 patients have been cured so far. India’s recovery rate stands at 57.42%.

In the last 24 hours, 418 patients succumbed to the Coronavirus infection and the highest-spike till date of 16,922 fresh cases were reported. On a positive side, a total of 13,012 patients recovered from the infection in a single day.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state by the Coronavirus pandemic and has contributed to over 1,42,900 cases. Delhi and Tamil Nadu have reported 70,390 and 67,468 cases, respectively.

Along with the maximum number of Coronavirus cases, Maharashtra remains on top for reporting the highest number of fatalities (6,739) as well. Delhi has reported the second-highest number of deaths (2,365) followed by Gujarat (1,735).

Across the globe, the Coronavirus infection has hit over 94 lakh people and taken over 4.8 lakh lives. Per week, over 1 million cases are reported by the world. India ranks at number 4 for the highest number of Coronavirus cases reported. The United States remains at first, followed by Brazil and Russia.
