If you enjoy tea, it could be difficult for you to picture your day without a warm cup of tea. After a long, exhausting day at work, nothing is more comforting than a steaming cup of tea. One of the most popular drinks in the world is tea. It is packed with the goodness of black tea, milk, and sugar. Tea tastes much better when it is paired with tasty snacks. Take a look at meals that you should avoid when drinking tea.
1. Green Vegetables
It is said that iron-rich leafy greens and other green vegetables are best kept away from tea. This is so because tea includes tannins and oxalates, which can prevent the body from absorbing iron. Thus, the iron content of green vegetables would not be absorbed by the body.
2. Lemon
Although many individuals enjoy drinking lemon tea, did you know that the acidity of the tea might increase when lemon is added? It can likewise cause bloating.
3. Fruit Salad
It is better to avoid consuming cold and raw meals with tea because the tea is hot and warms the body from within. “Fruits are again nutrient-dense. Having tea and coffee with fruits will give you acidity. So avoid any fruit with hot beverages,” explained Shilpa Arora.
4. Turmeric
Tea should not be consumed with foods high in turmeric. Turmeric and tea contain chemicals that can be harmful to the digestive system. It may cause acid reflux, as per a report in Zee News.
5. Curd
Another cold meal that is best to avoid with tea is curd (or yoghurt). Tea is a hot beverage, thus mixing curd or any other cold product with it is generally not a good idea.
