VA TECH WABAG Limited (NSE: WABAG, BSE: 533269) has announced a significant order win from the Saudi Water Authority. The contract, valued at USD 317 million (approximately SAR 1,190 million or INR 2,700 crores), is for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning (EPCC) of a 300 Million Litre per Day (MLD) Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant in Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Key details of the order:
- The project involves designing, engineering, supplying, constructing, and commissioning the desalination plant.
- The plant will be built on a greenfield site on the west coast of Saudi Arabia, south of Yanbu al-Bahr.
- The completion timeline is set at 30 months.
- The plant will use Dual Media Filters followed by a two-pass Reverse Osmosis process and Re-mineralization to produce potable water.
This order adds to WABAG’s existing portfolio in Saudi Arabia, where the company has been operating for over four decades. Globally, WABAG has constructed over 60 desalination plants in 17 countries since 1995.
The Saudi Water Authority, formerly known as the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, is responsible for regulating and monitoring the water sector in Saudi Arabia, aligning with the country’s Vision 2030 objectives.
This contract represents a significant addition to VA TECH WABAG’s order book and reinforces its position in the Middle East water treatment market.
