Stock Market Update: FIIs pull out Rs 5,920 crore from Indian markets as DIIs step in with Rs 3,500 crore infusion

Indian equity markets faced heavy selling pressure on January 21, 2025, as the benchmark indices closed sharply lower. The Sensex plunged 1,235 points or 1.60% to end at 75,838.36, while the Nifty fell 320 points or 1.37% to close at 23,024.65.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were significant net sellers in the cash market, offloading Rs 5,920.28 crore worth of shares. On the other hand, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) continued to provide support, purchasing shares worth Rs 3,500.32 crore.
