
There will be no trading today since the Indian stock market will be closed on Tuesday in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti. According to information on the BSE’s official website, trade on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, will be suspended during the whole session on both the BSE and NSE.
Today’s trading in the equity, equity derivative, and SLB segments will be suspended in accordance with the schedule of stock market holidays posted on the BSE’s official website for 2022. Trading in the segments for Interest Rate Derivatives and Currency Derivatives will also be halted today.
On November 8, 2022, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain closed for the first half of the trading day and open for business in the second half at 5 p.m. (evening session).
The sixteenth market holiday of the year, November 8, 2022, is the final day of trading on Dalal Street for the calendar year. On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, trading will resume at the regular times on the BSE and NSE stock exchanges.
As per the details available on BSE website, “There will be no action in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment” on the market holidays. Trading at the BSE and NSE was suspended last month over the three holidays of Dussehra, Diwali, and Diwali Balipratipada.
In the meantime, the market benchmark Sensex increased for the second day in a row, surging over 230 points to recapture the 61,000-mark on Monday thanks to strong buying in bank, auto, and metal sectors amid a bullish trend in global equities. The NSE Nifty ended the day up 0.4% at 18,202 points. The local equities were also bolstered by a strong rupee versus the US dollar and ongoing international capital inflows.
With 18 out of the 30 Sensex shares closing in the green, the market breadth was in favour of the bulls. The BSE smallcap index increased by 0.64%, and the midcap index ended the day up 0.69%.
On the other side, the Indian rupee gained 45 paise to end the trading day on Monday at 81.90 (provisional) against the US dollar.
