Stock market holiday: BSE, NSE remain closed on April 18 for Good Friday

Indian stock markets are closed today, April 18, in observance of Good Friday, a Christian religious holiday that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) will remain shut for trading across all segments, including equity, derivatives, and SLB (Securities Lending and Borrowing).

Additionally, trading in currency derivatives and commodity derivatives will also remain suspended for the day on exchanges such as MCX and NSE IFSC.

Normal trading will resume on Monday, April 21, 2025, following the weekend.

Good Friday is one of the stock market holidays listed by the NSE and BSE for the calendar year 2025. The markets typically observe a break on key national and religious holidays such as Holi, Diwali, Eid, Independence Day, and Christmas.

On the previous trading session held on April 17, benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 ended with modest gains amid mixed global cues and stock-specific action. Investors will now await global market trends and corporate earnings announcements when trading resumes next week.

Disclaimer: The stock market holiday is as per the official trading holiday calendar released by NSE and BSE. Investors are advised to confirm with their respective brokers or platforms for any changes or post-market updates.
