Sony Sports Network stops broadcasting of PSL in India – Know why

This comes after Cricbuzz stopped scorecard detailing and Fancode stopped streaming in India

Sony Sports Network has officially halted all broadcasts of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in India, joining Fancode and Cricbuzz in a wave of media blackouts following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir. The decision comes amid growing public anger after 26 civilians, including a foreign tourist, were killed on April 22 in one of the worst terror incidents since Pulwama in 2019.

The attack, carried out at the Baisaran meadow near the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam, has been claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a group believed to be a proxy of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the incident as “an attack on the soul of India” and pledged strong action against terrorism, saying it will not go unpunished.

Fancode was the first to act by suspending its live streaming of PSL matches, followed closely by Cricbuzz, which removed all PSL-related coverage from its platform. Sony, which also had broadcast rights, has now joined the protest by pulling the plug on PSL 2025 broadcasts across its television network in India.

The move reflects a wider call from Indian citizens and leaders to cut cultural and sporting ties with Pakistan in the wake of terror activities. The blackout of PSL across major Indian platforms stands as a collective message of zero tolerance toward cross-border terrorism.
