Sensex and Nifty witness a bumper opening in early trader

On Tuesday, equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened at a high record level in early trade. The tracking positive cues from global markets amid improved risk appetite support by fresh vaccine news.

30 shares at the BSE index rallied at 274.66 points or at 0.63 percent to scale the fresh peak of 43,912.64. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty gained 74.45 points or 0.58 percent to a lifetime high of 12,854.70.


Tata Steel rose over 4 percent and it was tailed by Bharti Airtel, SBI, HDFC Bank, M&M, Asian Paints, and Reliance Industries. In contrast, HCL Tech, Infosys, Bajaj Auto, ITC, Axis Bank, and Bajaj Finance were losers in the stock market.

In the special muhurat trading session on Saturday, BSE Sensex rose 194.98 points or 0.45% to close a record 43,637.98. The NSE Nifty advanced 60.30 points, or 0.47 percent, to finish at its lifetime high of 12,780.25.

Globally, US equities surged after biotech group Moderna said its COVID-19 vaccine was effective. Bourses in Honk Kong, Seoul, and Tokyo were trading higher in mid-sessional, while Shanghai was in the red.

The wholesale price inflated on Monday rose to an eight-month high of 1.48 percent in October. The global oil benchmark, Brent crude futures, rose 0.75 percent to $44.15 per barrel
