Omega Telecom Holdings, a key entity under the Vodafone Group, has significantly increased its stake in Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) via a preferential allotment. The company acquired 1,084,594,607 equity shares, raising its total holding to 1,363,612,391 equity shares. This strategic move has expanded Omega Telecom’s shareholding in VIL from 0.40% to 1.91% of the company’s total equity share capital.
The preferential allotment has also resulted in an increase in VIL’s total equity share capital, which now stands at ₹713,930.35 crore. This development further solidifies Vodafone Group’s overall presence in VIL, as its total shareholding, including Omega Telecom and Usha Martin Telematics Limited, has risen from 22.56% to 24.39%.
This move underscores Omega Telecom’s strategic interest in supporting and enhancing Vodafone Idea’s operations, especially at a time when the telecom company is focusing on debt reduction, 5G expansion, and network optimization to strengthen its position in India’s competitive telecom market.
Vodafone Idea continues to focus on raising funds and improving operational efficiency to capture a larger market share amidst a challenging industry landscape. This increased investment by Omega Telecom and the Vodafone Group highlights their confidence in VIL’s long-term growth potential.
