Indian equity benchmarks ended on a strong note on April 10, with the Nifty 50 closing above the 24,000 mark. The Sensex rose 918.60 points, or 1.20%, to settle at 77,550.25, while the Nifty gained 275.50 points, or 1.16%, to close at 24,050.60.
Gains were broad-based across sectors, with select large-cap stocks leading the upside.
Among the top performers, Asian Paints closed at ₹2,360.7, up 4.0%, emerging as the top gainer of the day. Eicher Motors followed with a 3.9% rise to ₹7,424.0, while ICICI Bank gained 3.2% to end at ₹1,321.9.
Shriram Finance and Bajaj Auto both advanced 3.1%, closing at ₹1,027.6 and ₹9,813.5 respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra ended higher by 2.9% at ₹3,259.8. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles rose 2.8% to ₹342.6, while State Bank of India added 2.5% to close at ₹1,066.7.
Among other gainers, Axis Bank climbed 2.5% to ₹1,350.8, and InterGlobe Aviation increased 2.4%, ending the session at ₹4,554.2.
The overall market sentiment remained positive through the session, with buying interest visible in banking, auto, and select industrial stocks.
