
The benchmark indices had a slow trading session on Friday after kicking off red in the morning. Markets cleared red figures and closed with marginal gains as Nifty Bank contributed in strong support.
At close, Sensex was at 38,040 up by 15 points or 0.04%, Nifty up 15 points or 0.14% to 11215.95. Nifty Bank after the mid day added over 100 points to close at 21760.00 up by 0.54%.
RBL Bank, Vodafone-Idea, Asian Paints among the top gainers of Nifty at close; Titan, HCL Tech, Infosys among the top losers of Nifty at close.
Banking stocks led the markets to green figures after mid session with Nifty Bank closing up 117 points, RBL Bank surged over 9%, IDFC First Bank up 5.38%, IndusInd Bank up 2.85%. ICICI Bank and SBI Bank closed red.
The market sentiment was majorly down as huge selling was noticed in the trading session. Lupin, Infosys, HPCL, Torrent Pharma noticed only sellers in the market session. While strong buying was seen in stocks like Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance and SRF.
At closing, About 1032 shares advances and 563 shares declined in NSE. In the sectoral view, IT and Pharma declined whereas FMCG, Auto, Banks advanced.
Weekly, Nifty 50 gained 322.45 points or 2.96%, Sensex added 1100 points or 2.98% in the entire week.
