Shares of Adani Power gained more than 4% after the company secured a major power supply contract from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The company received a Letter of Award to supply 1,600 MW of thermal power under a long-term agreement, marking another significant step in strengthening its power generation portfolio.

The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process. Under the agreement, Adani Power will supply electricity at a tariff of 5.30 per kWh, ensuring a stable and long-term power supply for the state of Maharashtra. The deal will be formalised through a 25-year Power Supply Agreement, with electricity supply scheduled to begin in the financial year 2030-31.

The project comes at a time when electricity demand across India continues to grow rapidly due to industrial expansion, urbanisation, and increased energy consumption. Long-term power supply agreements such as this are considered crucial for maintaining grid stability and ensuring consistent electricity availability for states with rising demand.

The agreement is also part of Adani Power’s broader expansion strategy. During FY25-26, the company secured five long-term agreements totalling 10,400 MW, reflecting its aggressive push to expand generation capacity and strengthen its presence in India’s power sector.
