
A final call regarding the benefits of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for government employees on the basis of the 7th Pay Commission Guidelines is likely to be announced today at the Cabinet meeting.
The restoration of benefits will mark to be a huge relief and convenience to 52 lakh central government employees as well as 60 lakh pension holders.
In April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the central government had put on hold increment in DA. Nevertheless, government employees are expected to receive an increased DA and DR from the month of September.
On July 6, as reported by DNA, it was announced by the Minister of State (MoS) at the Ministry of Finance Anurag Thakur that the Centre had restored the benefits of the central government employees and pension holders from July 1. Arrears will be provided to the employees and pensioners for July and August.
Other recent changes that central government employees and pensioners should be aware of are the June 2020-introduced House Building Advance (HBA), the simplification of the 7th Pay Commission Pension Benefit Process which aims at easing the procedural requirement for the rules of family pension, the extension of the time limit for the submission of Traveling Allowance (TA) on retirement by central government and the direction to banks on issuing pension slips to pension holders through e-mail, SMS as well as WhatsApp.
