Markets open higher with Sensex up by 599.88 points; Nifty rises by 148.75 points

The markets kicked off the day on a positive note with the Sensex opening at 71,786.74, reflecting a gain of 599.88 points, while the Nifty started at 21,611.00, up by 148.75 points.

In the morning session, Nifty Bank showed upward momentum, trading at 46,094.30, marking an increase of 380.75 points or 0.83 percent.


Notable gainers from the Sensex pack in the morning session included HDFC Bank, Nestle India, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro.

In the previous trading session, the benchmark indices closed lower, with the 30-share BSE Sensex concluding at 71,186.86, down by 313.90 points or 0.44 percent. Simultaneously, the NSE Nifty ended the day at 21,462.25, shedding 109.70 points or 0.51 percent. Nifty Bank also experienced a decline, falling by 308.75 points or 0.67 percent to 45,755.70.

Today, several major companies, including Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever, UltraTech Cement, One 97 Communication, RBL Bank, Hindustan Zinc, Central Bank of India, Tejas Networks, Hatsun Agro, CESC, Atul, and Sunteck Realty, are slated to announce their quarterly earnings (Q3FY24).
