Which are the biggest hotel chains in India?

Hospitality Industry is a major source of income and plays a major role in the Indian economy. Due to the pandemic, this industry experienced a slight downfall in income generation but has the capability to cope up with the time. This industry is run by some major Hotel chains and will look over some of the big names in the industry.

THE LEELA PALACES, HOTELS AND RESORTS

Commonly known as The Leela, the luxurious chain has an interesting story behind its formation. It was built by C.P. Krishan Nair which he named after his wife. He bought land of around 11 acres in Sahar Village, Mumbai and built a hotel as The Leela, Mumbai in 1986 and was the first-ever luxury hotel near Mumbai International Airport.  At the age of 65 Capt. Krishan Nair became one of the biggest hoteliers in the world. The Leela is now owned by  Brookfield Asset Management a leading asset management company with around $625 billion in assets under their management.

ITC HOTELS

One of the biggest names in the business the brand offers around 100 hotels around 70 destinations. It was launched in 1975 and is known for its authentic services and hospitality. Their official website claim that It ensures that sustainable practices are built into our hotels in the design phase itself, thus enabling ITC Hotels to be eco-embedded, services to be eco-easy and our associates to be eco-sensitised; all of this while ensuring you indulge guilt-free. All ITC Hotels are LEED Platinum certified.

LEMON TREE HOTELS

Lemon tree claims to be the India’s largest hotel chain in the mid priced chain and is currently operating 10,450 rooms in 106 hotels across 64 destinations, in India and abroad. The first hotel was setup in 2004 with 49 rooms. Patu Keswani is the owner and founder of the Lemon tree hotel chain.

THE OBEROI GROUP

Founded in 1934 the first hotel was formed in Shimla by Mr M.S Oberoi and was the first step towards a big industry.It operates 32 hotels, Nile Cruisers and a Motor Vessel in the backwaters of Kerala.The Oberoi Group established The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development in New Delhi in 1966. Today, this institution is considered amongst the best in Asia with approximately 100 students graduating each year.

NEEMRANA HOTELS
