Top 5 dirtiest cities of India in 2020

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs arranges Swachh Survekshan (Cleanliness survey) every year since 2016. According to the Government of India a total of 4,242 cities, 62 Cantonment Boards and 97 Ganga towns were surveyed, and 1.87 crore citizens participated in the exercise. In these survey, following five cities were at the bottom of the list of cleanest city.

1) Patna:-

Patna is declared the dirtiest city of India. This capital city of Bihar has a population of 1 million. After the result of of swachh sarvekshan came out the political leaders started blame gaming. For the fifth time Bihar gets the dirtiest state of India tag.

2) East Delhi:-

Though New Delhi got the cleanest Capital city tag three areas under the New Delhi Municipal Council got placed among the dirtiest cities of India. East Delhi is one of them. There are garbage dumps on main road, no proper segregation of waste, lack of enough compost plants.

3) Chennai:-

The Adyar river of Chennai is never cleaned. Dry waste sewage and Debris are always dumped into to the river everyday. The beaches are also very dirty with plastic waste lying here and there.

4) Kota:-

This city of Rajasthan is famous for competitive exam coaching. Lacks of student come here every year to take coaching in order to grab good ranks in medical and Engineering entrance exams. But this city itself ranks poor in in cleanliness.

5) North Delhi:-

This area also fall under the New Delhi Municipal Council. It has some prime landmarks like Delhi University campus, Azadpur Mandi, Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Inter State Bus Terminal. Sadar Bazar is a famous marketplace of North Delhi. Being a congested area, it’s difficult to promote cleanliness among people here.
