In later years he donated $ 2 billion which is said to be the largest donation ever made in India for the enhancement of the education sector. Then later on presented to give out about 34 per cent of the Wipro stocks to the foundation.

He is said to be the first Indian to be a collaborative part of The Giving Pledge, a campaign led by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates which aims to inspire wealthy people across the globe to make a contribution to their profits for philanthropic causes. The industrialist is said to be heading the Wipro establishment for about 53 years but in 2019 he resigned but still serves to be on the board as the non-executive director and its founder-chairman. He is said to have a net of about $8.7 billion. Wipro is also said to have ownership in the Silicon Valley where installs to equipment related to technology and during the ongoing pandemic the previous year Premji provided with a donation of $150 million.
