MTV Video Music Awards 2020: Lady Gaga won hearts with her music and her unique masks!

MTV Video Music Awards is an annual award function for the music industry. Have a look at who took the award home.

Lady Gaga is known for her unique fashion style and she did not fail to surprise us yet again in MTV VMA 2020. While dominating the whole award function, Gaga had a message to the world, “Wear a mask” and “Justice for Jacob Blake and Breonna Taylor.”

While this year’s award function was different because of the ongoing pandemic, the artist did not fail to deliver their best performances. Gaga performed her new songs, “Stupid Love”, “Chromatica II” and “911”, all while wearing a mask. She was later joined by singer Ariana Grande.

Talking about the awards, Lady Gaga won the ‘artist of the year’ award, and ‘song of the year’ award for ‘Rain on Me’ with Ariana Grande. Gaga also became the recipient of the inaugural Tricon Award which honoured for her being a “multidimensional artist” for her involvement in music, acting and, philanthropy.

Whereas The Weeknd won ‘video of the year’ for his song ‘Blinding Lights.’ BTS was named as the ‘best group,’ ‘best K-pop,’ among others. As for top honours, Ariana Grande’s  No. 1 duet with Justin Bieber, “Stuck with U,” won best music video from home — one of two new awards MTV established as artistes have made shifts because of the pandemic. For the new category known as “Best Quarantine Performance”, CNCO won the honour. Megan Thee Stallion won best hip-hop for “Savage” and Taylor Swift won best direction for “The Man.”

Other than this, Miley Cyrus won the Best Art Direction as well as Best Editing for her song, “Mother’s daughter,” Best choreography was won by BTS for their song, ‘On.’

Artist went on to entertain the audience through their amazing performances. From The Black Eyed Peas to Miley Cyrus to The Weeknd and lastly Lady Gaga dropped their power-packed performance on Sunday night.

The VMAs, which were supposed to to be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, had performances from Latin Singer Maluma, at Brooklyn whereas The Weeknd performed from Manhattan. Given the strict rules, different arrangements were made for the performances.
